ROCHESTER - Richard A. Picard, 81, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Massachusetts's General Hospital from complications post surgery. Born November 29, 1935 at home in Dover, N.H., he was the son of Raymond and Madeline (Fox) Picard.
Dick was loved by his wife of 49 years, Susan (Spence) Picard of Rochester, N.H., and his children Wayne Picard, Donna Smith and husband Raymond II, and Elise Owens and husband Corey all of Rochester, Krista Brown and husband Edward of Wakefield, N.H., and Ryan Picard and husband Justin Stratton of Lincoln, N.H., his grandchildren Raymond III, Taylor, Drew, Jakobie, Chace, and Mia as well as two great grandchildren, Zachary and Cameron. He also leaves behind many loving sisters and brothers in laws, nieces, and nephews.
Dick served in the Navy for 10 years as a cook. He first worked at UNH as a cook and later owned and operated several local restaurants including Suzelle's in Somersworth, Firehouse 1 in Dover, and most recently Good n Plenty in Barrington.
Dick loved spending time with his family, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, cooking, camping, and working in the yard. He was loyal, hard-working, and fun loving. Family and friends were what was most important to him. He was a great storyteller, a good listener, and a patient teacher with a big smile and a quick wit. He will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond, his mother, Madeline Trela Chase, his sister, Patricia Hannon, and his brothers, Wayne and Ronald.
