ROCHESTER - Richard "Dick" M. Gervais, 68, of Rochester died surrounded by his family at Hyder House on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, after a battle with cancer. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Rita Gervais of Gonic.
Dick retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 2004 after 37 years of service where he formed many friendships. Dick enjoyed going to X38 retiree lunches and catching up with his former co-workers. He was known for his time spent at local car shows and developed a strong bond with his car show friends. He treasured his specialty cars, especially his Buicks that he owned for over 30 years. A proud day was when he had all three of his children and his three Buicks at the Eliot car show this summer.
Dick loved and was so proud of his family who will miss him dearly. He was a wonderful father, Pepere, brother, uncle, and friend to so many people. He was an animal lover who bonded with all animals he encountered. He loved spending time with his grand puppies Bubba and Sparky.
He is survived by his daughter Michele and son-in-law Paul Vermette of Sanford, Maine; his son Troy Gervais and daughter-in-law Brandy of Aurora, Colo.; his daughter Rhonda Gervais and her fiancée Steve Kimball of Berwick, Maine; his grandchildren Amanda, Daniel, Joseph, Ani, and Ryley. He is also survived by his siblings Norman (Dottie) Gervais and Jerry (Angie) Gervais of Rochester, N.H.; Lew Gervais (Barbara) of Palm Bay, Fla.; Mona (Bill) Potter of Gonic, N.H. and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
