NORWICH, Conn. - Richard P. Hebert, 85, of Norwich died Wednesday morning March 13, 2019 at home peacefully with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Rochester on June 29, 1933 the son of Gerard and Rose (Nadeau) Hebert.
He was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Yard before joining the Air Force during the Korean War. Following his service time, he worked as an Air Traffic Controller and later returned to building submarines at Electric Boat at Quonset Point, R.I. before retiring. He was very active at the American Legion Peter Gallon Post and the V.F.W. Post 2212 in Taftville and veterans' affairs. Forever devoted to his loving family, Richard found his strength through his faith as an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Occum, Conn.
He was married to the love of his life Virginia (Ginny) Savory Hebert who survives him. He was very proud of his sons.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Scott Hebert of Norwich, Conn. and Gary Hebert of Groton, Conn.; and one brother, Roger Hebert and his wife Ann of Rochester.
He was predeceased by one son Dennis Hebert, sister Gloria Lupien and two brothers Daniel and David Hebert.
