Robert J. Sullivan Sr. ... operated firewood business

ROCHESTER - Robert J. Sullivan Sr., 80, of Lowell Street in Rochester, died Saturday, May 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 9, 1936 in Tewksbury, Mass., to the late John J. Sullivan and Theresa M. (LoRusso) Sullivan.
Bob proudly served in the U.S, Army from 1955-1957 in Korea.
Bob was raised in South Boston, where his work ethic as a young man propelled him into a life of hard work and self-employment. At age 12 he built a cart to stand outside of the grocery store to help assist patrons get their groceries home, earning tips. He used a cart to sell pony boy ice-cream pulled by his pony, and gave pony rides for 10 cents.
He went on to own and operate Bob's Rubbish removal in South Boston. In 1974 he moved his family to N.H., started farming, gardening and his firewood business "Bob's Wood Service".
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carol M. (Greeley); his children: Shirley Sullivan of Rochester, N.H., Robert J. Sullivan, Jr., and wife Cynthia of Oahu, Hawaii, Carol Chase and husband Charles of Rochester, N.H., Robin J. Boles of Gilford, N.H., Tracy Evans and husband Timothy of Rochester, Tobi Laurion and husband Marc of Wakefield, N.H., Casey Paradis and husband Jeremy of Gonic, N.H.; 24 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He leaves a loving sister Jean E. Shifflett and husband Edward (Butch) of Braintree, Mass.; a Loving brother William C. Sullivan and wife Eileen of Kingston, Mass.; sister-in-law Theresa Sullivan of Stoughton, Mass. Predeceased by brother James E. Sullivan of Stoughton, Mass.
