Rochester announces overnight downtown parking ban

ROCHESTER - A parking ban is in effect as of 11 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. on Wednesday in much of the downtown areas.

The Department of Public Works will be out doing snow removal specifically in two downtown areas, with the following streets being affected.

Downtown Rochester
South Main from Lambert to North Main
North Main St. From South Main to Maple
Wakefield Street from South Main to Union Street.Portland Street from Columbus Ave to Charles.
All of Union Street, Bridge Street, Hanson Street, Central Ave and Liberty Street Granite St. Davyanne Locke Lane

Downtown area Gonic
Main Street from Colby Street to Pickering Road. All of Colby Street
Church Street from Main Street to rear entrance to Gonic Mill.
Railroad Avenue from Pickering Rd to the Gonic School.

No vehicle without an exemption permit may be parked on these streets or in city parking lots during these times.

Whenever a snow emergency is declared in the "downtown areas," the parking restrictions will be on the streets described above only.
