CONCORD - "Fugitive of the Week," Nicholas LaPanne, 44, was arrested Tuesday night by members of the Strafford County Sheriff's Office.

This arrest was made possible after information was developed by officers from the Strafford Police Department, which was relayed late yesterday afternoon. This information was further researched, leading a team of deputies to a motel located on Milton Road in Rocheste. LaPanne was located inside a room, where he was staying using a relative's name.

He had been wanted on an arrest warrant for bail violations stemming from an original charge of reckless conduct. LaPanne was transported to the Strafford County Jail, where he will be held pending his initial court appearance at Strafford Superior Court.

LaPanne, 44, of 894 Meaderboro Road, Farmington, who fled police after a traffic stop and ended up crashing his pickup truck into parked cars at a downtown Rochester business last year, has been on the lam for about a month, going into hiding just days before his bench trial was scheduled.

The Oct. 7, 2016, incident that ended with a reckless conduct indictment began when a Rochester motorcycle officer conducted a traffic stop on LaPanne on Wakefield Street near Spaulding High School. As a second officer stopped at the scene and conferred with the motorcycle officer, LaPanne allegedly sped south on Wakefield in his Chevrolet pickup truck, eventually crashing into two vehicles parked at Tri-City Towing. LaPanne then fled on foot, police said.
He turned himself in a few days later after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest.
LaPanne was out on personal recognizance while awaiting trial prior to going on the lam.

He was originally charged with a slew of offenses including felony reckless conduct and conduct after an accident along with several misdemeanors including a traffic violation, aggravated DWI, criminal mischief and disobeying a police officer.

He was indicted in December 2016 on a single felony count of reckless conduct for allegedly placing "another in danger of serious bodily injury by means of a deadly weapon (his truck) when after being pulled over by a Rochester Police Officer he fled a traffic stop at high rate of speed on Milton Road ... crossing over a "triangle" road divider, and subsequently crashed into other parked vehicles."

LaPanne had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" on December 6. The "Fugitive of the Week" had been aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV and several state newspapers including The Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet.
