YORK, Maine - Three area residents, including one from Rochester have been charged in the theft of a backpack, while one of them was also charged in a felony theft of firearms.

Police say that on Wednesday they responded to a report of a theft of a backpack, which had been left on the ground while the owner was working for a roofing company on Long Beach Avenue.

Reports indicated a bystander had seen an individual running from the job site with the backpack and entering a small SUV that had several people in it.

The witness who observed the theft called York police while monitoring the vehicle, which was later located in Short Sands Park.

Police said the backpack was found in the vehicle, and officers placed the three occupants of the SUV under arrest for theft.

Arrested were Eric Winslow, 45, of 287 Rochester Hill Road, Apt. 2, Rochester; and Dylan Frost, 22, and Delila Frost, 20, both of 31 Adelle Drive, Dover.

In a related investigation, detectives from the York Police Department and Maine State Police K-9 Trooper Adam Schmidt were investigating the theft of three firearms stolen in multiple car burglaries on Harvest Lane area on Thanksgiving Day.

On Wednesday, the K-9 was being used to perform an article search for the firearms in a wooded area just off Route 1 near the York-Kittery line. During that search, detectives had been looking to speak with Dylan Frost about the firearms theft.

After detectives interviewed him, Dylan Frost cooperated and told investigators where one of the stolen guns was located in the woods, police said. Maine State Police K-9 "Ibo" assisted in locating a shotgun.

Dylan Frost also told detectives that the other two guns were at a residence in Rochester, where a handgun and rifle were recovered with the assistance of Rochester police detectives.

Dylan Frost was also charged with a Class C felony in connection with two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle. He was unable to make bail and was transported to York County Jail. His bail was set at $10,000.
