Rochester man, 39, dies in fiery crash at Dover toll plaza

DOVER - A Rochester man was killed early Monday morning in a fiery crash into a concrete barrier at the northbound tolls of the Spaulding Turnpike.

Justyn Tyndaal, 39, was declared dead upon arrival at Portsmouth Regional Hospital not long after his Chevrolet Equinox crashed into a concrete barrier next to the northbound E-Z pass lane of the Spaulding turnpike around 2:10 a.m., State Police said.

The vehicle came to rest in the travel lane of the toll plaza where it engulfed in flames.

State Police Lt. John Hennessey said a DOT worker helped to pull Tyndaal from his vehicle and arriving State Troopers performed CPR before he was transported to the hospital.

Hennessey said despite the snow, the roadways had been well treated by DOT plows and the road surface was clear.

Three of the northbound travel lanes at the tolls were closed for about two hours as troopers investigated the crash.
