DOVER - A Rochester man will spend two and a half to five years in state prison after he pleaded guilty on Thursday to violation of probation and second degree assault.

Timothy Balch, 28, formerly of 14 Wadleigh Road, pleaded guilty in the August assault of another prisoner at Strafford County Jail.

The original charge for which he was on probation was a drug possession charge, Assistant County Attorney Tim Sullivan said today.

A second two and a half to five year sentence in connection with the case was suspended for five years upon his release.
