DOVER, N.H. - The Rochester man arrested for drunken driving after allegedly leaving the scene of a pedestrian accident in which the victim was seriously injured has been indicted on several felony charges in connection with the November incident.
Mark Lefebvre, 55, with a last known address of 11 Day Lilly Lane, East Rochester, was formally charged by a Strafford County grand jury with conduct after an accident, and two counts of aggravated DWI.
Lefebvre was also charged with driving without a license, a misdemeanor.
Lefebvre is accused of driving drunk the night of Nov. 27 when he struck a pedestrian on Milton Road in the area of O'Keefe's. Police got the call around 8:30 p.m. and responded for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
It was reported that the vehicle involved had left the scene prior to police arrival. The vehicle then drove back by the scene with witnesses pointing out the vehicle to police as it drove by.
Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in the area but they were unsuccessful. The vehicle was described as a dark colored Hyundai Elantra.
Lefebvre, owner of the vehicle, turned himself into police a short time later.
The victim suffered vertebrae and pelvic fractures.
Lefebvre was indicted on two aggravated DWIs, one because he was allegedly involved in an accident causing serious bodily injury while intoxicated, and one because his BAC was over .08 while allegedly causing the accident.
He faces three and a half to seven years in prison on each felony charge.
The indictments were handed down Aug. 20 and released last week.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
