DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted in the strangulation assault of a woman in Rochester almost two years ago.

Jeffrey Hance, 26, of 12 Academy St., was formerly charged with first-degree assault when he is alleged to have strangled her, "causing respiratory and airway comprise due to inflammation of the airway" on May 10, 2014.

The charged is a Class A felony punishable by 7½ to 15 years in state prison and a $4,000 fine.

The February Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down a week ago and released on Tuesday.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been shown to warrant a trial.
