Rochester man seriously hurt, Medflighted after rollover

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man had to be lifeflighted after he was seriously injured Friday when his pickup rolled over on the Spaulding Turnpike.

Firefighters, State Police, and Frisbie Ambulance responded around 2:10 p.m. to the southbound lanes about two miles south of the tolls where they found a single patient, the driver, needing medical attention.

The 63-year-old victim was taken by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, with injuries that are considered serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

The turnpike was closed for the duration of the helicopter's time on scene time, about 20 minutes.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
