Rochester man with string of city arrests nabbed in Hooksett on theft, drug charges

Matthew Kane

HOOKSETT - A Rochester man is facing criminal charges after police say he tried to sell more than $10,000 worth of stolen surveying equipment to a store in Hooksett.

The case unfolded on Monday when police were called to Eastpoint Lasers, a survey equipment store, around 3 p.m. and spoke to an employee who said two men had just come into the store and tried to sell equipment that had been reported stolen from a Rochester construction site.

Matthew Kane, 34, was arrested without incident on two counts of possessing narcotics, receiving stolen property and providing a false name to a detective.

Kane was found to be in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine during his arrest.

He was charged with receiving stolen property, drug possession and giving a false name.

Kane has had a string of arrests by Rochester Police in recent years, the most recent coming on Aug. 14 for willful concealment, theft and resisting arrest.

Kane was taken to the Merrimack County Jail pending arraignment.
