Rochester taxi cab crashes into utility pole

ROCHESTER - A single-car accident sent a Rochester man to the hospital today after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Charles and Glen streets.

The crash occurred around 7:25 a.m. when police say a motor vehicle driven southbound on Charles Street by Donald Saylor, 30, of Rochester, went off the roadway and struck the pole, splitting it.

The vehicle also struck a fence and a parked vehicle.

Saylor's vehicle, a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country owned by Surfside Taxi, was severely damaged

Saylor was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital as a precaution. The area of Charles St. between Knight and Granite streets remains was still shut down as of 11 a.m. while the pole is replaced.

It is expected to take several hours.

The accident is still under investigation. Anyone having any information pertaining to this collision is asked to contact Officer Williams-Hurley at 330-7128.
