DOVER - A Rochester teenager has been indicted in the negligent homicide death of a popular Nute High student who was killed when the car he was riding in rolled over on Hare Road in Milton in November.

Frank Staples, 19, of 16 McKinley St., Rochester, faces a Class B felony that carries a three and a half to seven year prison sentence.

According to the indictment, Staples caused the death of Chandler Peterson, 16, when he drove at a high speed on the Hare Road.

Peterson, who grew up in Milton, died around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 19 when he was ejected from the car during the crash and rollover that occurred on the dirt portion of the road not far from Route 153.

Peterson, a standout high school athlete who volunteered at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, had just transferred down to Spaulding High shortly before the crash.

Staples and three other passengers in the car sustained what were described as minor injuries.
