MANCHESTER - The Rochester Voice was recognized for its excellence in journalism at the New Hampshire Press Association Distinguished Journalism Awards Banquet on Wednesday, winning four awards including a first place in the General News category.
In fact, The Rochester Voice took first-, second- and third-place in the General New category, third for its series of stories on Rochester's Heroin Crisis, second for its stories on the 10-year anniversary of two teenage girls who survived being hit by a freight train in Lebanon, Maine, and first place for its ongoing coverage in the death of a Rochester man, Mike Burns, who was killed under mysterious circumstances in Saco in 2017.

The digital daily also won second-place recognition for its three-part series on the state's mental health crisis.
"We are very humbled and gratified for The Rochester Voice to be recognized by our peers in the industry," said Rochester Voice editor Harrison Thorp. "We believe the city of Rochester has unlimited and untapped potential to be a shining star in the Northern Seacoast and will continue to do our part reporting on its journey of progress and success."

The awards ceremony was held at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm's College in Manchester and emceed by former longtime Foster's Daily Democrat executive editor Rod Doherty.
