Rochester woman hit with DWI in Washington St. crash

ROCHESTER - A Rochester was charged with driving drunk on Sunday after she crashed into a snowbank on Washington Street.

The crash occurred a little before 4 p.m. in the area of 176 Washington St. when police say Brianna Whelan, 28, was driving a Ford Focus west on Washington Street when she suddenly left the roadway and went into a snowbank near the Park and Ride on Washington Street.

Whelan had to use a rear door of her car to get out of the vehicle.

She was evaluated on scene by EMS but refused their services. Whelan was charged with DWI.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The case is still under investigation at this time. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128.
