Rochester's SHARE Fund benefits from $10G grant

ROCHESTER - The SHARE Fund of Rochester recently received a $10,000 grant from the Thomas W. Haas Fund, an advised fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

The grant will help further the SHARE Fund's mission to provide material and financial assistance to address emergency basic needs by providing food to prevent and alleviate hunger and emergency heating assistance to help families struggling to stay warm.

Torey Kortz, Executive Director of the SHARE Fund states, "This couldn't have come at a better time. With the recent bitter cold temperatures, low-income households often do not have enough financial resources to deal with the unexpected expenses that come with extreme weather conditions, making them especially vulnerable to experience a financial crisis. This grant will help ensure that families in the communities we serve have adequate food supplies and enough heat to stay warm this winter."

The SHARE Fund serves more than 5,000 people living in Rochester and Farmington annually, with needs like food, clothing, housing, basic utilities, heating assistance, and urgent medical aid. As part of the SHARE Fund's programming, families are introduced to a variety of support services designed to help improve the household's financial outlook and begin a path toward economic security. This is accomplished with the financial support of our generous community of grant funders, local businesses, civic groups, and individuals, as well as the dedicated services of over 100 volunteers.
