LEBANON - Russell Stone Corliss of River Road left for heaven Monday, July 4, 2016, after a good long life. He was 37 days shy of celebrating his 100th birthday. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Arlington, Vt., to James and Grace (Stone) Corliss. He grew up in Contoocook village in Hopkinton, N.H. He went to work at an early age on farms working with cattle and every kind of farm animal. Lastly, he worked at Vickery Orchards as a herdsman, in Mayberry Shoe and at Great Falls Products.
He loved all animals especially chickens. He had extraordinary wisdom and memory. He loved children and had eight of his own.
He was predeceased by his wife Muriel (Carpenter) Corliss; all of his siblings and sons, Gary and Manice Corliss. He is survived by daughter, Janice Robinson and husband Kenneth of Eli, Vt.; son, Donald Corliss and wife Jean of Vermontville, N.Y.; son, Richard Corliss of Detroit, Mich.; daughter, Brenda Whitcher of North Haverhill, N.H.; daughter, Rebecca Towne of Woodsville N.H.; stepson. Sheldon Smith and wife Dawn of Salem Township, Maine.; daughter, Melody Critchlow and husband Jim of Lebanon. He had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
