LEBANON - They've got the facility. They've got the parking. They've got the floor space.
Now owner Joe Alosa and General Manager Dave Roy are just waiting for the shows.
The two hope to turn what once was a Profile State Line Superstore showroom for travel trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes into a premier venue for boat, home and garden shows that will attract vendors and visitors from all over New England.
With 30,000 square feet of exhibit and vendor space, 15-foot high ceilings and three acres of parking, Roy thinks the Tri-State Expo Center on Route 202 near Blaisdell Corner will be able to compete with the big-city venues like those in Portland and Boston.
"This is a perfect expo facility," Roy said on Tuesday.
He said it's larger than many of the big-city expo halls already being used, but getting big show producers to buy into his concept is key.
Tri-State Expo has three separate show halls, two of which will be in operation the weekend of Nov. 21-22 when they will have a Gun and Knife show as well as a craft show.
"We figure that's good for the whole family," Roy said. "Dad can look at the guns and mom can go to the craft fair.
He said he expects 100 tables to be rented for the craft fair and perhaps 150 for the gun and knife show. Tables are still available for both shows, he said.
While exhibits like the ones planned for Nov. 21-22 are great for the expo center, Roy is looking for the bigger jewels like boat, home and garden, and even car shows like those held in Boston and Portland.
