DOVER - The trial of a Maine man accused of exposing himself to two young girls at the Somersworth Walmart in 2017 begins today.

Christopher T. Dastrup, 34, of 395 Main St., Apartment B, South Berwick, is facing up to 60 years in state prison if found guilty on all four charges.

Court records allege Dastrup both exposed and touched his genitals in front of the two girls, ages 5 and 11 at the time, at the Somersworth store on Sept. 28, 2017.

Deputy County Attorney Tim Sullivan said he couldn't comment on the severity of the potential sentences, but records indicate Dastrup had previously been convicted of two or more similar offenses in Oregon.

Somersworth Police Capt. Russell Timmons said soon after Dastrup's arrest in October 2017 that the crimes occurred in the "normal shopping area" of the store.

Jury selection was completed on Monday with opening arguments set to begin today.

The case was set to go to trial in September 2018 and earlier this year only to be postponed. The trial is expected to last four days.

Dastrup is listed on the Maine sex offender registry.
