Sanford man charged in felony sex assault, held on $5G bail

SANFORD - Sanford Police arrested a local man on Saturday in a felony sexual assault case.
According to Deputy Chief Tim Strout, Sanford Police investigated a report of a sexual assault that occurred at 41 River St., which led to the arrest of Jacob Allen Caswell, 19, of 41 River St., Apt. C.
Caswell was charged with gross sexual assault, a Class A felony punishable by up to 30 years in jail.
A Sanford Police log from Saturday shows police were dispatched to River Street for an alleged rape around 10:30 a.m.
Caswell is currently being held at York County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
In an email requesting details of the assault, Strout did not immediately disclose details of the assault or the age or hometown of the victim.
