ARUNDEL, Maine - A Sanford woman died early today in a two-vehicle crash in Arundel.

The accident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Route 111 near the intersection of Limerick Road in Arundel.

A preliminary investigation by York County Sheriff's Deputies indicated that Kerry Kiernan, 45, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala east on Route 111 when it crossed the center line and struck a black 2016 GMC Sierra operated by John Sanborn, 22 of Alfred, who was headed west.

Kiernan was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Sanborn was transported to SMHC Biddeford and treated for minor injuries.

Rescue units from Arundel Fire and Rescue and Goodwin Mills Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.

Route 111 was shut down until around 9:30 this morning.

Both Kiernan and Sanborn were alone in their respective vehicles.

The crash is being reconstructed by deputies and remains under investigation.
