ROCHESTER - Saunda Pease Taylor died peacefully at Colonial Hill Center in Rochester, N.H. on Monday, May 4, 2015.

Saunda was born Saunda Joan Pease, the only child of Edith and Willis Pease, in Rochester, New Hampshire on November 12, 1925. She attended Rochester, New Hampshire schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1943. She attended Lasell (Junior) College in Newton, Mass.

In 1946, she married Harlan Dresser Taylor of Kennebunk, Maine. Their wedding reception was held at the Rochester (N.H.) Country Club. Saunda and "Hal" resided in Manchester, Conn., where Hal was employed with United Aircraft Corporation, later renamed United Technologies Corporation. In 1978, upon Hal's retirement, they moved back north to his beloved Kennebunkport Beach, Maine, where they resided for nearly thirty years.

In 2007, Saunda and Hal moved back home to Saunda's family farmland in Rochester, N.H., to a home built just for them by (and next door to) their son, Jeffrey and his family. Saunda's proudest achievement was the birth of her two children, Judith Taylor of Manchester, Conn. and Jeffrey (Pease) Taylor of Rochester, N.H. Saunda was also especially proud of her three grandchildren, Jennifer Dennison of Westport, Conn., Emily Taylor of Hanover, N.H. and Will Taylor of Quincy. Mass. Saunda was active in all of her children's' activities, serving as a Girl Scout leader and also as a school "Room Mother" for many years. She and Hal were also very active in local Republican Party politics in Connecticut, and attended both state and national Republican Party conventions. Saunda loved to talk politics and in her later years, loved the conservative Fox television station! Those who knew Saunda best will remember her for her love of style and all things beautiful. She once said, "As long as your silver is polished and your flowers are fresh, no one will notice anything else!" It was a rare day that Saunda did not have some sort of flower arrangement or flowering plant on her table or windowsill. "Nana" was an avid cook and baker, and also carefully tended her flower gardens for many years, both in Connecticut and Maine. She was an avid reader and Saunda will also be remembered for her love of animals, especially her parents' racehorses (Moraka Stock Farm, Rochester, NH) and her many dogs.

Saunda was predeceased by her husband Harlan Taylor (2008) and her son-in-law, Ed Hachadorian.

She leaves behind Jeffrey's wife, Cathy Taylor of Rochester, NH and Jennifer's family - husband John Fatteross and two great grandsons, Jack and Will Dennison, all of Westport, Conn.
