LEBANON, Maine - A Milton, N.H., man is facing a stiff fine for allegedly dumping tires by a Lebanon road.

Selectmen discussed the case at their regularly scheduled Thursday meeting.

According to Selectmen Chair Chip Harlow, a Lebanon resident saw the man dumping four tires on Center Road recently.

He took extensive pictures including the license plate, which State Police traced back to the Milton resident.

Selectmen on Thursday unanimously voted to send the man a notice of civil fine for dumping trash for $300.

If the fine is not paid by later this month, Harlow indicated papers would be served and the matter would be referred to the courts.

Selectmen did not identify the alleged dumper.
