OK, folks it's time to play your favorite game show here on The Lebanon Voice: Coincidence or Conspiracy.

Last month President Obama put into action his $10 million diaper initiative, a test program to figure out how best to deliver free diapers to needy families. That's when the ---- hit the fans for Republicans, who had already twice rejected the notion of subsidized diapers.

Later in March Obama visited Cuba and watched a baseball game then went to Argentina and did the tango.

Coincidence ... or conspiracy.

Three days ago it was almost 70 degrees, and the spring peepers on Prospect Hill were in full throat, rubbing their little legs together and having a gay old time. Then the past two days we've had snow and cold, will turkeys have inundated the area and the poor little peepers are stone cold silent.

Coincidence ... or conspiracy.

In early March Lebanon selectmen Royce Heath and Paul Nadeau voted not to put a recall referendum question on the ballot, forcing town resident and Budget Committee chair Jeri Basko to get more than 200 signatures so it would have a chance to get on the ballot as a citizen's petition. Then two weeks later the two reversed their position and voted that selectmen allow it to be placed on the ballot by selectmen.

Coincidence ... or conspiracy

On Sunday while swimming laps at the Springvale Y, a man got into my lane at the shallow end of the pool without asking consent to join me, an insidious faux pas. I ignored him and continued swimming. A few minutes later I was swimming a breast stroke at full dizzying-speed clip and ran into him head-on, literally head-on. I briefly considered charges of unprivileged touching, which would surely land the uncouth oaf in jail for a full year, but being a forgiving fellow, I simply said, "no problem." Meanwhile, Trump's campaign manager faces 12 months in the slammer for touching the wrist of a snarkily aggressive reporter who was grabbing at the candidate's arm, with pen in hand no less.

Coincidence ... or conspiracy

A year ago Lebanon Fire and EMS Chief Dan Meehan stood in front of a packed gym at LES and explained his pay structure as chief of both EMS and Fire. He said he would take $1,200 monthly for the Fire side and use the Rescue command vehicle as pay for being Rescue chief, representing the arrangement as somewhat of a magnanimous gesture on his part. Then with much less fanfare on July 1 he began extracting $1,200 per month for Fire and $1,200 for Rescue. Now the new Fire and EMS budget calls for his getting $900 a week, but he refuses to comment on the raise. Selectmen voted unanimously for the budget. The budget committee voted unanimously against it.

Coincidence ... or conspiracy

Stay tuned for the next installment of America's favorite game show "Coincidence ... or conspiracy,." which is set to air shortly after the GOP convention in Cleveland.
