RANDOLPH - Seven motorcyclists were killed and three injured Friday when a pickup truck collided with a group of bikes on a rural, two-lane road in Randolph in northern New Hampshire.

Travis Hood, who was driving behind the truck, told WMUR he was the first person at the scene and stayed with one of the injured bikers until an ambulance arrived.

"I held his hand, and I tried to get him to, I'm like, 'Squeeze my hand. Stay with me. You're a strong guy. You've got this.' Toward the end, when the ambulance got there, I could feel him losing strength," Hood said.

The group of bikers was thought to be largely composed of a motorcycle club of ex-Marines who were heading back to a nearby lodging.

None of the dead have been identified pending notification of next of kin, police said.

A portion of Route 2, where the accident occurred was closed overnight.

The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to send a team to the site to investigate.
