ROCHESTER - Shirley Ruth Keen, 85, formerly of 21 McKinley Street died Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Rochester Manor after a long illness.
She was born March 19, 1933 in Newington, the daughter of Sherman and Gertrude (Hutton) Spinney. She was a resident of Rochester for the past 30 years and was a member of Newington Congregation Church. Shirley worked at the Edgewood Center and Clipper home as a nurse's aide and then as an administrative director for the Gafney Home. She mostly considered being a mother as her occupation and the joy of her life.
She enjoyed drawing, tole painting, making crafts, sewing and cooking. She loved country western music and dancing.
She is survived by son, Raymond Keen; daughters, Karen Tibbetts, Annette D'Amour, Susan Murdoch; many grand and great grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Rodgers, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Grimbilas and Phyllis Hopkins and brother, Clayton Spinney.
