Signups still available for Citizens Police Academy

ROCHESTER - The Rochester Police Department announced on Wednesday that spaces are still available for its upcoming Citizen's Police Academy which begins later this month.

Citizens who participate in this program will be exposed to the many facets of their police department through presentations by department employees, hands-on training and ride-a-longs with police officers. Here's your chance to learn and become exposed to what your police department "really does".

The Citizen's Academy class will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 11 weeks starting on March 19 and concluding on May 28. All participants must be 18 years of age or older at the commencement of the Academy, or 15 years of age or older if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The class is limited to 20 participants and will be considered on a first come, first served basis, with preference being given to Rochester residents. Applications and Release of Information Authorization forms will be available at www.rochesterpd.org as well as at the Rochester Police Department. Requests can also be emailed to Captain Todd Pinkham.

Applications can either be mailed or dropped off at the Rochester Police Department. A signature is required on each application. Participants must pass a brief background check to include a criminal record check. If you have questions, please contact Captain Pinkham at 330-7119 or e-mail at todd.pinkham@rochesternh.net
