SOMERSWORTH - Police today said they investigated a possible school threat but found it was unable to be substantiated so no charges are expected.

According to police, they learned that School Resource Officer Colton Deschenes and High School staff had received information of an alleged statement made by a Somersworth High School student saying they were "going to shoot up the school."

The statement was allegedly made to another student within the last week.

The student said to have made the threat was immediately removed from class, searched and interviewed. No weapons of any type were found on the student or the student's property.

Somersworth Police have been unable to verify that the student in fact made these statements. As such, no criminal charges have been, nor are any criminal charges anticipated.

Police took the opportunity to assure the public that school safety is of paramount importance and that they will continue to work in close cooperation with SAU 56 and all Somersworth Schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
