Sorry I can't think of a headline, I'm thinking bout Rylee

The most wonderful thing happened on Wednesday at 11:57 a.m.

I became a grandpa, and there is no feeling with which it can compare.

Suffice it to say I went to bed last night, and when I woke up in the middle of the night to think about the stories I'll be chasing for tomorrow as I am wont to do, I thought about beautiful Rylee Elizabeth instead.

And then as I laid back down to go to sleep gosh darn if I wasn't thinking about her again!

And when I woke up around 4:30 a.m. to go to work, guess what? You guessed it. Oops, I did it again, as Britney Spears would say.

So, needless to say, it's pretty cool.

Then I thought to myself, Geez, why'd you wait so long.

That's laughable, of course. It had nothing to do with me, but just the same, I never wanted to be a grandpa till I hit 60.

Then it slowly dawned on me it was time.

But I would have to wait several years (hey, not that many!) for it to actually happen.

And it finally did on Wednesday.

Believe it or not, I'm speechless.

That's because I'm actually dumbfounded by this feeling of euphoria that's accompanied Rylee Elizabeth's birth, not to mention that mother, my beautiful baby girl, Sara, and baby Rylee are doing fine, that Rylee's got her 10 fingers and toes and that all's well in Hooville. Ryan, Rylee's dad, made it through with flying colors, too.

It is truly a wonderful thing.

Now, I think I must have a story to write, but I just can't quite remember what it is. The notes are around here somewhere. Oh well, guess I'll just sit here and think about - you guessed it - Rylee.
