MILTON - Milton Rec Director Karen Brown said today this weekend's forecast for Milton Winter Carnival is one of the best in recent memory, with plenty of ice for Saturday's ice fishing derby and mild temperatures to help keep everybody comfortable and happy during outdoor activities.

Meanwhile, the Milton Firehouse on White Mountain Highway will take over hosting duties for some Saturday events formerly held at the Emma Ramsey Center.

Brown said returning features for Saturday's festivities at Town Beach include the adult and child fishing derby, an ice cutting exhibition put on by the New Hampshire Farm Museum and antique Model T and Snow Cat equipment that will be on hand for displays and free rides.

Milton Fire will be putting on a bonfire at Town Beach at Noon.

The firehouse will host among other things a pancake breakfast, a silent auction, face painting and a traveling zoo with Wildlife Encounters throughout the day.

The weekend gets under way Friday night at the Milton Moose with over-21 festivities including a chili/chowder cookoff, a pool tourney and a Meat Bingo.

Also on Friday at the Emma Ramsey Center there will be a Cajun Food demo starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by other family friendly events including a movie at 7 p.m.

A Saturday night dance at the Moose will feature DJ Tom Pomeroy. Doors open at 6 p.m. in the back of the building, with music starting at 6:30. Public invited with a $5 donation.
