ROCHESTER - State safety officials announced today that an investigation is under way into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Gonic this afternoon.

The incident occurred either during or possibly after a crash that occurred on Route 125 near Colby Shoe, sources tell The Rochester Voice.

An exact time of the incident is unclear. Rochester Police referred all calls to the State Police Major Crimes Unit.

The Attorney General's office sent a statement regarding the shooting and the investigation at 4:20 this afternoon

WMUR-TV also reported this afternoon that a woman who sent a video of the scene said she and her husband first thought they were witnessing a car crash, but she said a man holding a gun then got out of a vehicle.

Police told the man to drop the weapon, but the man didn't, the witness told WMUR. She said police then shot the man.

There was no word on the nature of the shooting or the extent of any injuries.
