ROCHESTER - Rochester Main Street will present well known folk artist Susie Burke with "Lonesome" Dave at the Aug. 11 Music On The Square Concert in downtown Rochester.
The concerts are held every Friday from 11:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Concertgoers are asked to "bring a chair and buy or bring a lunch" to enjoy a musical performance in the heart of downtown Rochester.
Susie Burke has been singing on Seacoast stages since the early 80s, as a soloist, a member of several local bands, and in several duos, including one with guitar whiz Harvey Reid. Her musical tastes and influences are varied and many, encompassing contemporary and traditional folk, swing, country, topical songs, and acapella singing, with detours along the way for Broadway showtunes and classic ballads.

"She posesses one of the finest, purest ballad sopranos heard in folk music today" writes Scott Alarik in the Boston Globe, noting that "her phrasing is unerringly devoted to the lyric" and that "Burke displays a gift for pulling honest emotional chords - all too rare in these clever and cynical times."
"Lonesome" Dave lived in Kittery in the late 80s, then left for 24 years for a job in upstate New York as a newspaper illustrator. He and his late wife Linda Schrade's return to the Seacoast four years ago was the triumphant culmination of 24 years of eager planning, and the best thing ever. Dave started playing music in 1962 and has been deeply involved in a long series of folk and Bluegrass bands ever since all over the Northeast. He is currently in two local bands, Bolt Hill Bluegrass and Cecil Abel's New England Bluegrass Band, playing mostly banjo and resonator guitar. Susie and David K. were in a much-loved band, Hot Ticket, along with Linda Schrade, Cosy Sheridan and David Levine, in the late 80s, early 90s.
Music On The Square Concerts are held weekly through August 25. In case of inclement weather the concert will be cancelled. Free parking nearby is available at the North Main , Union and Congress Street Parking lots. The series continues on Friday, August 18 with the duo of Pat and Craig from Wellfleet. Wellfleet's sound teeters between the bluesy rock of J. Geils Band and the poppier vibe of Blues Traveler, with roots of The Band sprinkled in the mix.
