MILTON - After one sale was ruled invalid due to the state's charitable trust division and another fell through after a purchase and sale agreement had been signed, the town has decided to get out of the real estate business and turn the selling of the town's dilapidated old fire station over to a commercial broker.

At their most recent meeting selectmen briefly discussed the second failed sale and gave town administrator Heather Thibodeau orders to put out feelers for a Realtor or broker who could best find a buyer.

Since the building was donated to the town the state's charitable trust division mandates that at least $130,000, minus a Realtor's commission, must be paid for the building's sale to be approved by the state.

Thibodeau said she would have an update for selectmen at their next regularly scheduled meeting, which is Monday.

Selectmen also decided to take down the "For Sale."
