A Maine State Police spokesman said details in the events surrounding the shooting death of a Rochester man in Saco last month remain murky enough that no knew information is being released at this time while the investigation continues.

"There are questions that still need to be answered," MSP Spokesman Steve McCausland said today.

Michael Burns, 54, a well-respected and beloved Boy Scout troop leader, was killed on the front porch of a Saco duplex early the morning of Sept. 30 by a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police for the most part have been tight-lipped regarding the circumstances and possible motive in the shooting of Burns, who worked as a self-employed computer technician.

Detectives said the man who shot Burns was the one who called police, and there were two other persons inside the house at the time.

The man thought to have shot Burns has yet to be identified, and no charges had been filed in the case as of today.

"We know who was involved in the shooting, and we have interviewed all in that house that night, and that's where we stand," McCausland said.

No information on what type of gun was used or any other aspects of the case have been released.

McCausland did confirm that some interviews and lab work still remain and insisted the length of the investigation isn't unusual.

"Every case has its own timetable, and there are varying parts of this case," he said.
