BERWICK - A young Rochester man sustained serious head injuries on Monday when his motorcycle crashed on Hubbard Road in Berwick.

The rider, identified as Michael Neeper, was headed toward Lebanon on the first set of "S" curves near Sandy Lane around 5:45 p.m. when he lost control of his Honda CBR, according to Berwick Police Officer Mike Howie.

Howie characterized Neeper's injuries as serious, but not thought to be life-threatening. He was treated and later released from Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Neither drugs nor speed were factors in the crash. Howie said, adding rider inexperience may have contributed.

Neeper was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
