Update: Nothing ruled out in man's untimely death

ROCHESTER - Police are not ruling out any scenarios as they continue their investigation today into the death of a 50-year-old man whose body was found on Portland Avenue early Monday.

According to Rochester Capt. Gary Boudreau, the man died sometime between 2 a.m. and 5:40 a.m. when police received a call from a man who said he'd found the body while on his way to work.

The body was found lying face down in a puddle in the sidewalk in front of 376 Portland Street.

The man's identification is known to police, but was not being released as of Monday.

Boudreau said the man may have been working in the area and may have had ties to Rochester, adding the plates on his car are from Massachusetts.

Right now the man's death is noted as untimely but police have not ruled out foul play.

"We cast a wide net in a case like this," Boudreau said.

A woman who lives in the neighborhood and wouldn't give her name said she was awakened by the noise of police activity and watched in horror as bystanders videotaped the body as it lay on the ground.

"I hope they find out what happened," said the woman who said she never knew the man. "Right now people (on social media) are saying why he died and they don't know, and it's not fair to his family. It's disgusting."

Boudreau said anyone who may have further knowledge on the case is asked to please call police.
