GONIC - Vaughan E. Brooks "Brooksie", 73, of Gonic, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, following knee surgery while at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Portsmouth. Vaughan, born January 14, 1944, in Shrewsbury, England to Robert E. and Nancy (Lewis) Brooks, moved to Kittery Point, Maine at 17 months old.
He was raised in Kittery Point and attended Traip Academy. He was a machine operator at MacAllen/Essex, Newmarket, N.H., for nearly 40 years and later retired from Eastern Boats, Milton, N.H., in 2006.
Vaughan's love of boats took him on many trips along the Seacoast and to his favorite spot in Gloucester, Mass. He also enjoyed many road trips with his dedicated wife, Deb, and loving sister, Janet. Vaughan was also a huge NE Patriots fan and loved watching games with his son, Nelson and grandkids Dylan and Lily. He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends.
Vaughan was predeceased by his parents and nephew, James Sponsler of Kittery, Maine. He leaves behind his wife Deborah (Lacasse) Brooks, son Nelson Brooks and his wife, Tricia and their children, Dylan and Lily; two step-daughter's Michelle Marquis and Vanessa McDuffie, and their children, Phillip, Faith, Jacob, Andrew, Kianna, Alexis, and Rayah; his sister Janet Brooks and her husband Robert, and nieces, Julie Baer and her husband, William, and Gina Cullen and her husband, Jeff; and great nieces and nephews, Jamie, Samantha, Robert, Derek and Aden.
