ROCHESTER - While every reported crime gets the full attention of Rochester Police, one that occurred around Christmas and appeared in Wednesday's log likely left a few down at headquarters scratching their heads, not only because of the tardiness of the victim's coming forth, but what compelled them to finally do so.

It all began around 11 a.m. on Wednesday when a Harding Street resident called to report someone had stolen $25 that they had left in an envelope that was intended as a holiday gift for their mail person.

The resident explained to dispatch that as a result of someone stealing the cash, the mail person never got their money.

The victim then told police that they were reporting it now (Wednesday) because they noticed their mail has been "currently out in the snow," according to the police log entry.

Despite the lack of suspects or witnesses, police canvassed the neighborhood looking for who perpetrated the holiday heist, however no suspects or even persons of interest were developed.

"There's nothing to follow up on," Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said today.
