Wakefield Food Pantry serving almost 60 from Milton

WAKEFIELD - Since July the Wakefield Food Pantry has served up some 2,214 meals to needy Milton families, food pantry officials noted at a recent Milton selectmen's meeting.

In that time they have helped out 17 families including almost 60 individuals, 22 of whom are teenagers.

Pantry officials said the number of kids getting necessary food access is up 30 percent since January 2016.

The food pantry is located between the state and Wakefield town garage at 1500 Wakefield Road.

Any Milton resident who either qualifies by income or USDA guidelines, is living solely on social security or is receiving state benefits will likely qualify, officials say.

The food pantry is open to Milton residents on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m.

For those who can't physically get to the food pantry there is a program that allows for food deliveries.
