ROCHESTER - Crimeline and the Rochester Police Benevolent Association are thanking Walmart today for their agreeing to be corporate sponsor for the Crimeline and RPBA's annual golf tournament.

Walmart sponsored the tourney this year with $2,500, which will help cover costs and provides funding for additional needs in the community.

The tournament is held to build up the Crimeline reward account offered for information pertinent to solving important cases to the Rochester Police Department. Some of these cases have involved thefts, burglaries, drug trafficking and other serious crimes.

The money that is provided from this tournament to the RPBA goes directly back into the community through donations provided to fire victims, medical expenses, scholarships and sports teams among many other requests we receive through the year.

The Rochester Police Benevolent Association is the charitable arm of the Rochester Police Department that allows us to give back to the community that which has been given to us.

The support that Walmart gives to these two organizations is a huge asset and they have been "Partners with Blue" for years, assisting our Department with many needs from youth activities to donations for Christmas relief to donations for food and shelter items, Rochester Police said in a statement on Thursday.
