ROCHESTER - Two New Hampshire men escaped injury Sunday night when the vehicle they were in crashed into a Milton Road utility pole near Cumberland Farms.

The accident occurred around 9:15 and resulted in the utility pole being split in half.

Police say the vehicle involved was a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner driven by Thomas Winward, 28, of Derry, who was traveling northbound when he lost control and struck the pole. Neither the driver nor the passenger, Benjamin Hazleton, 26, of Raymond, was injured.

The vehicle suffered significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.

Utility crews were on scene for several hours making repairs, however, there was no loss of power in the area due to the accident.

While the accident is still under investigation, weather conditions appear to have been a factor. If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are asked to contact Officer Oswalt at the Rochester Police Department at (603) 330-7128.
