ROCHESTER - Livingston Taylor and Tom Chapin first met in the 1980s and have shared a strong bond ever since: "We're both the brothers of superstars, but we've also had long careers that sustain us, too," Chapin said Friday.

Taylor, whose brother James Taylor is a longtime pop icon; and Chapin, brother to late renowned folk/pop superstar Harry Chapin, will both bring their distinct and formidable talents to the Rochester Opera House next Saturday, March 26.

Taylor, whose 1979 hit "I Will Be in Love with You" rose to #30 on Billboard charts, has been recording albums since the 1970s and is a pop fixture in his own right.

Taylor, who picked up his first guitar at 13, not only plays music, he teaches it as a professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Chapin, meanwhile, considers himself more folk than pop. He draws his inspiration from groups like the Weavers, Pete Seeger and Peter, Paul and Mary.

"It's all about story telling," he said, adding he's been performing music his entire life, first with the Chapin Brothers, which included Harry and Steve, and then by himself where he developed a whole genre of children's and family music.

"I know a whole lot of people who say to me, 'I couldn't do that' but it works for me," he jokes.

It worked so well he's gotten three Grammys for Best Spoken Word Album for Children, including in 2004 for "City of New Orleans."

"Steve Goodman, a good friend of my brother, Harry, wrote that song and Steve died about a year after Harry," Chapin said. "Who knew I'd narrate a book that won a Grammy."

Chapin said he loves to get the audience singing and he's looking to do the same next Saturday.

Chapin and Taylor will appear with Eva, a renowned international vocal group that has played the Rochester Opera House before.

Chapin said Eva will start the show followed by Taylor (who likes to emcee, Chapin said) and then Chapin, ending with a musical get-together for a grand finale.
