ALFRED, Maine - A West Lebanon man indicted in June on felony burglary and misdemeanor theft charges in connection with an alleged March break-in faces a November trial if no deal can be made with prosecutors.

Thaddeus W. Barbour, 37, formerly of 284 Prospect Hill Road, was picked up by Milton Police on March 24 after Maine lawmen put out a warrant for his arrest in New Hampshire in connection with an alleged March 19 burglary on Prospect Hill Road.

Maine State Trooper James Macdonald said in April that an investigation revealed that Barbour may have broken into the residence after he was denied money by the homeowner, adding that Barbour was suspected of having solicited money from several area residents.

Barbour was held at the York County Jail from March through most of July when his bail was reduced from $1,000 to $250.

A dispositional conference, the last step prior to trial, is set for mid-October.

A Class B felony conviction could result in a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

Barbour is well known in the area of Prospect Hill Road and Champion Street, especially for his efforts to keep the small waterfront park at the bottom of Prospect Hill tidy during summer months.
