EAST ROCHESTER - Wilma Lea (Mellinger) Cooper, 85, of 44 Front St., East Rochester, died on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. She graced this Earth, with her celestial light and love, on Sept. 22, 1932 in Monroe, Ohio. Wilma is the daughter of the late Herbert H. Mellinger and Tessa Vera (Leonard) Mellinger of Largo, Fla.
Wilma is survived by her six adult children: Glenn R. Cooper, Ellen F. (Cooper) Lacy, Raymond D. Cooper, Alison L. Cooper, Dale H. Cooper, and Linda M. Cooper. Wilma graduated from Largo High School (Largo, Fla.), and she pursued extensive course work, for her degree in Christian ministry and missionary service, at Trinity College in Belleair, Fla. During her working years, she devoted herself to retail sales and service; restaurant business; the arrangement of fabrics in interior decorating; and Christian service at the Church of God with Rev. Wayne Nelson.
In essence, Wilma was always true in expressing that precious, loving, sensitive, delightful, and beautiful little girl, with a gentle spirit, at heart. A moment is the measure of time that it takes for God to give us our next breath and heartbeat. Wilma treasured each one, knowing that, at any given moment, it could very well be her last. Wilma's life mission, to which she was always faithful, was "to spread everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of [Jesus Christ]." 2 Corinthians 2:14.
