STRAFFORD - Winifred M. Hersey, 91, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 12, 2018 after a long battle with COPD. She was born in Warwickshire, England in 1927. She is predeceased by siblings Brenda, Ronald and Betty.
Winifred came to America as a war bride in 1946. She worked in various shoe manufacturing companies in Dover, Rochester and East Rochester over the years. In 1971, she and her husband, Charles Hersey, built and opened Hersey Haven Campground in Strafford, N.H. From 1998-2016, Winifred volunteered from 1998-2016 at Strafford County Homemakers, in 1981 they retired and spent winters in Florida.
She is predeceased by Charles. She is survived by her son Clive Spedding; her daughters Sharon Spedding Pegues, and Christina Hersey Blair; she has many grandchildren nieces, nephews and two very special great-grandchildren Katelyn Yergeau and Wesley Andersen who gave her many smiles.
