MILTON - Milton Rec Director Karen Brown said this past weekend's Winter Carnival was one of the best in recent history with outstanding weather and crowds for Saturday's fishing derbies and indoor events at the Milton Firehouse.

Brown said more than 30 participants entered both children's and adult fishing contests.

Brown said events at the firehouse went flawlessly and that in addition, some $900 was raised to help the family of a Berwick firefighter who perished on Friday fighting an apartment house fire.

Joel Barnes, who also worked for Acton Fire and Rescue, was just 32.
