ROCHESTER - The warming shelter currently open at the National Guard Armory on Brock Street will close today at noon.

The shelter, which was first housed at the Community Center on Wakefield Street, moved to the armory last week.

With the bitter cold snap now behind us, officials decided there would be no pressing need going forward unless the same type of cold snap returns.

SOS Recovery and Tri-City Co-Op, which worked to get the warming center open when the frigid spell began late last month, will now be the first line of defense for individuals who need services.

Anyone who has serious concerns for their personal wellbeing can still call 211 or 978-378-5094 for emergency assistance.
