MILTON - Former longtime town fire chief Andy Lucier, who more than doubled the vote of his two competitors combined in last year's one-year selectman's race, has decided not to seek a second term.

Lucier garnered 370 votes in town voting last March, easily outpacing his two challengers, and joined Erin Hutchings and Selectmen Chair Ryan Thibeault on the board.

With the filing deadline already gone by the field is now set with five seeking a three-year term.

Among the field are former selectman Andrew Rawson, Adam G. Sturtevant, Billy Walden, James M. Beaulieu and budget committee, planning board ZBA member Larry Brown.

Lucier's one-year slot came up for a vote due to the forced midterm resignation of former selectman Mike Beaulieu.

Lucier did not return a phone call seeking comment on his decision not to run.

Meanwhile, a Meet the Candidates Night is set for Feb. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Town Hall.

The event will be led by town moderator Chris Jacobs.
